
Chemical sedimentary rocks are masses of
intergrown mineral crystals that are precipitated from aqueous solutions. They
are massive and often somewhat uniform in appearance. The difference between
these rocks is what they are composed of (quartz, gypsum, halite, hematite, or
calcite).
